Honoring Veteran's Day
On November 12th Haw Creek PTA will sponsor a Veteran’s Day program to show our support and appreciation for all Veterans and Active Duty Military Personnel.
This year we have once again partnered with Treat the Troops - Southern Style. Last year Haw Creek families donated over 700 pounds of candy, toiletries and other snacks to our active military through this organization! This year, starting November 1st, we will be collecting donations of items such as candy (yes, that means we will take all of your unwanted Halloween candy!), single serve drink mixes, granola bars, cereal bars and travel size toiletry items. We will be collecting items at the car pool lane and in the school until our assembly. Every single item that is collected will be made into care packages that will be sent to our troops.
On November 12th, we would like to invite our students to bring one Veteran or Active Duty Military Personnel to attend a continental breakfast, 7:45 - 8:15 am followed by an assembly in the cafeteria. All guests are encouraged to proudly wear service uniforms.
Attitude of Gratitude
The Attitude of Gratitude mindset teaches us the importance of seeking the positives from every experience and being thankful for all that we have. Through this mindset, we learn that we can use the positives or the negatives of our lives as the foundation on which to build. Choose the positives, and we are on our way toward extraordinary success; choose the negatives, and we embark on path toward disappointment, resentment, and suffering. In these lessons, students will focus on all the things they have, leaving no time to be distracted by what they don’t.
FALL BOX TOP DRIVE A SUCCESS
The Fall Box Tops drive is over and we want to thank everyone for collecting and submitting their Box Tops. We collected a total of 20,960 Box Tops! Congratulations to the following classes that submitted the most Box Tops for their grade and have won an ICE CREAM PARTY (date to be announced):
Please encourage your students to continue to collect Box Tops throughout the year. We will have another Box Tops drive in the spring and want to meet our goal of earning $3,000 for the school year.
